More time on the wheel, more time to think, and more time to get properly muddy.

This intermediate/advanced wheel throwing class with Tim Goodman is for students who already have some throwing experience and want to keep building their skills in a more focused, generous studio session.

By popular demand, this class is now moving to a 3-hour format. That extra time makes a real difference. It gives you more space to settle in, work through problems, refine forms, practise repeat throwing, and spend proper time on trimming, finishing and developing your own ideas.

Across the term, Tim will help you build confidence and consistency at the wheel, with guidance tailored to where you are in your throwing. Depending on your experience and goals, this may include:

• improving centring, pulling and control
• throwing taller, wider or more consistent forms
• making sets and repeated shapes
• refining rims, feet, proportions and curves
• trimming with more confidence and intention
• developing personal projects with technical support
• thinking more carefully about form, function and finish

This is a great class if you already know the basics and want more time, feedback and room to push your work further.

It is not a beginner class. Students should be able to centre clay and throw a simple cylinder independently.

Expect good teaching, plenty of practice, occasional triumph, occasional collapse, and a very reasonable amount of clay-related obsession.
