Experience the elegance and intricacies of working with porcelain in this immersive two-day Porcelain Masterclass, led by Tim Goodman.

Tailored for intermediate to advanced potters 17 and over, this hands-on workshop will enhance your understanding of porcelain, introduce advanced coloured clay techniques, and help you refine your throwing and trimming skills.

You’ll learn to distinguish between porcelain and stoneware, including insights into their different properties and firing ranges, as well as how to master the unique challenges of throwing porcelain.

Please note: This class will run subject to minimum enrolments. We may be able to accomodate younger students. Please contact us to discuss this.

What You’ll Learn

Master essential wedging techniques for porcelain, including how to prepare clay properly using methods such as spiral wedging.
Discover the creative possibilities of coloured porcelain, with hands-on practice in marbling and agateware techniques.
Learn the tricks for trimming porcelain and agateware to create clean, refined shapes.

Materials Provided

All participants will receive a complete set of materials, including:
• 5kg of Lumina midfire porcelain
• A variety of stains for colouring porcelain
• Underglazes for surface decoration
• 3kg of bisque-fired work.
• Ongoing students can glaze fire their work at no extra cost, whilst others can glaze for at $15 per kilo plust glaze.
